Grade 4 - Summer Reading Requirements
Students entering Grade 4 read many different genres of books. We want to get you ready for this with your Summer Reading choices. (5 books total)
1. Frindle, by Andrew Clements. (1 book)
2. Biography or Historical Fiction. (1 book)
**We recommend two series to look for, one is a biography series and one is historical fiction. You can also ask a librarian for ideas at your local library.
Who Was/Who Is Series - These are great biographies for this age. Some students call these the Big Head biographies because of the covers.
I survived..Series, by Lauren Tarshis - This is an age-appropriate series that relates the stories of an historic event through the eyes of a child eye-witness.
3. Nonfiction - Informational - (1 book or article) Any nonfiction book, magazine or article about a topic that interests you.
4. Traditional Literature - (1 book) A folktale, myth or fairytale of your choice.
5. Student Choice - (1 book) Read something you like. Follow a series you enjoy, or try something new. Check out the Summer Reading List at http://brooklinesummerreading.weebly.com for suggestions. Come back to school with some great books to recommend for the library!
